Your sim will begin quickly unpacking the box, which creates Simoleon rewardlets. The rewardlets will be picked up after a few seconds even if you don't mouse over them.
Leave the game open. When you come back, disable "Advanced autonomy" to stop the AI.

To earn Simoleons and experience:

whereas for case (b), E(X) is around 36 cubes. (97k. mmm, this should be the lucky one who got promoted to legendary rank and got it within 36cubes )
